How To Make Your Makeup Look As Natural As Possible

by Anjelina Tongco

Wearing makeup every single day without looking like you’re overdressed and over-glammed is totally doable. You just have to know how to do it so your makeup looks natural. For everyday makeup looks, you’re going to want to go for something light, airy, and fresh; kind of like your skin but better. Here are some tips to help you make your makeup look natural.

Prep your skin

Before applying any makeup, it is important to prep your skin. Cleanse your skin thoroughly to remove any dirt, oil, or impurities. Follow up with a toner to balance your skin's pH and a moisturizer to hydrate your skin. A hydrated and healthy-looking skin will make your makeup look more natural.

Use a light base

Choose a lightweight foundation that matches your skin tone and has light, sheer coverage. Heavy and full-coverage foundations can look cakey and unnatural. Apply your foundation with a brush or beauty blender and blend it well into your skin. If you want to go even more natural-looking with your base, you can try using tinder moisturizer or tinted sunscreen instead.

Conceal only where necessary

Using concealer is a great way to cover up blemishes, dark circles, and other imperfections. However, too much concealer can make your makeup look heavy and obvious. Only apply concealer where necessary and blend it well into your skin. You can also use a color-correcting concealer to neutralize any discoloration before applying your regular concealer.

Use a light hand with blush

Blush is a great way to add a natural flush to your cheeks. Choose a blush that matches your natural flush and apply it with a light hand. Start from the apples of your cheeks and blend it upwards towards your temples. You don't want to look like a clown, so make sure you blend it well into your skin.

Go easy on the eye makeup

For a natural look, it's best to keep your eye makeup simple. Use neutral eyeshadow shades that complement your skin tone and apply it lightly to your eyelids. You can also apply a light coat of mascara to your lashes to open up your eyes. Avoid heavy eyeliner and bold eyeshadow colors.

Choose a natural-looking lip color

Lipstick is a great way to add some color to your lips, but for a natural look, it's best to choose a shade that matches your natural lip color. You can also use a lip balm or tinted lip balm for a subtle hint of color. Avoid bold and bright lipstick shades for a natural look.

Finish with a setting spray

Once you have applied your makeup, finish it off with a setting spray. This will help your makeup last longer and keep it looking fresh and natural all day. Choose a setting spray that has a natural finish, so it doesn't give your skin a shiny or matte look.
